Getting started
Do I need to create an account?

No. NoCents does not require an account, email, or sign-up.
You can start using the app immediately. By default, your data stays on your device unless you choose to enable sync.
Can I use NoCents offline?

Yes. NoCents works fully offline.
You can add new expenses and review your history without an internet connection.
If you enable sync, the app will upload an encrypted backup when you’re online. Sync does not transfer data to a new device, and it does not provide manual restore or recovery if the app/browser data is removed.

How does anonymous sync work?

Sync is optional and disabled by default.
When enabled, your data is backed up using a random anonymous ID — not an email, name, or profile. This keeps your data private while providing a background backup without creating an account.
Where is my data stored?

By default, all data lives only on your device.
If you enable sync, a copy is stored securely in the cloud under an anonymous identifier. NoCents cannot see or link this data to a real person.

How do I log an expense quickly?

Tap the + icon, choose a category, enter the amount, and confirm.
The flow is designed to be fast enough for everyday use, even on the move.
Can I reorder or customize categories?
›
Yes. You can rename, reorder, delete, or create your own categories.
Categories are fully customizable so they match how you actually spend.
Troubleshooting
The app is not syncing — what should I do?
›
First, make sure sync is enabled in settings and that you have an internet connection.
If the issue continues, try reopening the app.
I accidentally deleted a category or expense.

Deleted expenses and categories cannot be recovered.
If something is removed by mistake, you can quickly add the expense again or recreate the category in a few taps.
What does sync actually do?
›
Sync keeps an encrypted copy of your data in the cloud linked to your current anonymous session. It helps protect your data if the app is temporarily unavailable or reinstalled on the same device. Sync does not support transferring data to a new device, manual restores, or support-based recovery. If you uninstall the app or wipe the device or browser data, recovery may not be possible.
